WELL DONE TO ALL THE BOYS ON A GREAT FIRST SEASON TOGETHER.

At the start of the season i said my aim was to create a team and for that team to improve as the season progressed.

All fourteen of you done that,so well done to you all.

Now our next challenge awaits us as we prepare for 11 a side.

I'm sure that if we show the same level of concentration, willingness to listen and learn and above all enjoy what we are doing we will have an even better second season together.

All the best.

A really great improved performance from our boys today.Harry Dicks scored a brace again, one of which was a classic text book goal.Great midfield work from Scott finding Joe shone on the wing who then delivered a pin point cross for Harry to head, yes head in to the top right hand corner. This was our first headed goal this season, and is surely a contender for goal of the season.

The second half started with some good early pressure and a quality strike from Joe S saw us take a 3-1 lead. This should have been enough to secure our first win for a few weeks but we relaxed a bit to much a allowed them back in it,conceding to quick goals.

However we picked ourselves up and created plenty of opportunities to win the game, but in the end the woodwork and their goalkeeper earned them a point.

Well Done Boys.

Junior blues 7 - 1 ST MORE COLTS.

A match report will follow after i have gathered the thoughts and comments from the boys after team meeting to be held before training this coming Saturday.

I Was really impressed with the boys maturity and input in our little meeting. Each and every one of them had the chance to air their views to the group. It was really nice to see them have the confidence to sit in front of the team and have thier say.Every one of the boys came up with some different and intersting points. This was a great team building exersise and something that will be done on a regular basis.

Man of the Match: Connor Donker.

Goal Scorer: Cai Earlam.

match report week 7. (spring)

ST MORE COLTS 0 - 2 young dynamos.

After a poor start the boys recovered well.
Despite going 2-0 down early on the boys kept their heads up and battled on well.A solid defensive display from then on ensured we did not concede again.
With a bit more good fortune we could have pulled one back to get us in the game, but unfortunatly we drew our third blank in a row.
We are looking much stronger as a team now,but we must rediscover our goalscoring to compete in future games. This will come i'm sure we just need to be bit more positive and confident in front of goal.
With four more league games left we must all carry on giving our best efforts to make this a really succsessfull and enjoyable first season together.

Match Report Week 6 (spring).

Welling utd blue 4 - 0 ST MORE COLTS.

Although this game produced the same scoreline as last week, this was a much improved performance.
We lost the toss up and had to play uphill in the first half.We battled well under quite a lot of pressure and looked like going in even at half time. However, two quick goals saw us 2-0 down at half time.
The second half started well,we began to get in to the game and created a couple of great chances. We were then awarded a spot kick, but unfortunatly the keeper pulled off a fine save to keep the score at 2-0.Had we scored the penalty we would have been well placed to even the match up.After more good chances and a stonewall penalty decision turned down we began to tire towards the end.Two long range efforts from our opponents saw them run out 4-0 winners in the end.
I felt the scoreline didn't truly relfect the game, even their manager said we played well and the score flattered them a little.
As i have always said, results and league tables are not the be all and end all,it's the performance that matters. For me this was a positive display even if the final score might suggest otherwise.

Man of the match: Callum O'mahoney.

Match Report Week 5 (spring).

ST MORE COLTS 0 - 4 Russllers.

Our home hoodoo continues. After excellent recent performances, this was not so good.We got off to a bad start giving our opponents to much room and were not strong enough with our tackles.Three down at half time virtually saw this game over as as a contest. The second half was better and we conceded only one goal.I was not angry by this performance, just a little disappointed as i know we are better than this.We are all in this together, for a lot of you boys its your first season playing for a team and its my first season as coach. At this stage we are all still learning our game and its important we learn from our mistakes. One bad performance doesnt make us a bad team so we must look forward to our next training session and forthcoming fixture to get us back on track.

Man of the match: Robbie Denman.

Match Report Week 4 (spring)

Red lion white 1-3 ST MORE COLTS.

This was without doubt our best performance since we started up back in may,A fantastic all round team effort.Since we came back after xmas we have talked a lot and worked hard on the tackling side of the game.We have always tried to play nice passing football but to do this we must win the ball first. We have really started to do this and we looked strong from the first whistle.Another thing we have looked closely at is trying to get the first goal, something we have done in every game so far this season(sorry joe shone). After scoring first in recent weeks i got bold and told the boys the second goal is more important if we are to win games.
Today we managed to to do this with two goals from the in form Harry Dicks, both strikes coming in the first half.Harry loves scoring goals and is at his happiest when doing this, but i do think his goal celebrations need some fine tuning.
With a bit more luck we could have been ot of sight by half time but nevertheless i was well pleased with our first half showing.
We started the second half very well again putting more pressure on our opponents. Our third goal came from Cai who has been really patient in recent weeks waiting for his chance in the starting line up.I had a gut feeling Cai would score today and told his dad before the match and he didn't let me down.A nice calm finish only to be let down by the celebration yet again, but the smile on his face said it all.
Although they managed to pull one goal back we continued to create loads of chances and we were comfortable winners in the end.
This was a great all round perfomance with Luke pulling off at least three outstanding one on one saves.Robbie,Joe Shone and Stefan were solid at the back with some bone crunching tackles and great distribution.Scott,Joe kelly, Sean and George were outstanding and dominant in the middle,Scott must have run a marathon today with the amount of ground he covered. The ever lively front two of Harry and Cai were also superb.
At this stage of  our proggression we shouldn't pay much attention to league tables, but it is nice to see us second with a + 2 goal diference.
This result has seen us go three games unbeaten,a great achievement, but we must keep concentrating, enjoying ourselves and work hard in training, especially on those goal celebrations.
                                                                                   Well Done Boys.

Match Report Week 3 ( spring )

ST MORE COLTS 1 - 1 Leeford fc.

One of the most used qoutes in football is "it was a game of two halves",This could not be more appropriate on this occassion.Leeford were the visitors for our first home game of the spring season.Whilst all other games at danson were called of,we managed to get our goals up and kick off on time.We started the game very well as in recent weeks, and began to apply to some real pressure "early doors".After several great chances and lots of corners we finaly made the breakthrough. Our captain for the day Alfie saw a brilliant long range effort unluckily strike the woodwork, fortunatly the rebound fell to harry to score his 5th goal of the season. We continued to apply loads of pressure hitting the post yet again and should have gone in to the break at least 2-0 up.The second half however was a totaly different story.Playing against the wind we began to drop deep and invited to much pressure.Leeford eventually equalised, the goal coming straight from a corner with the ball swirling around like a beachball beating Luke at the near post. The goal gave our opponents lots of confidence and could have taken the lead, but we dug in and some really strong tackling all over the pitch kept the scores level. In the last five minutes we produced a couple of great chances to win the game, but it was not to be and a draw was the fair result. As in our first game against leeford this was a Exciting match played in a great spirit with hardly any fouls or arguments with the ref to deal with so well done to all the boys from both sides. Its great to see ourselves and leeford having such positive starts to the year ,they started up the same time as us and i know from our telephone conversations and emails how much hard work they have all put in.We will probably see a fair bit of them this summer as we are already planning a couple of 11 a side friendlies to prepare ourselves for big boys football. On the subject of 11 a side football,  I went to watch my nephew (Alex McDevitt ) play for the under 11,s.He had a great game and scored a hatrick as they won 3-2,so well done to him and the team.Getting back to our team,it was great to see all fourteen boys at the game even though three of them were being rested.I am aware that a few boys have not started a game over the last few weeks this will be addressed over the next couple of weeks,i promise. One last thought on the game,Whilst i couldn't say i was "over the moon" i certainly wasn,t "as sick as a parrot brian".

Goalscorer: Harry Dicks.

Match Report Week 2 (spring )

Petts wood ospreys 1-2 ST MORE COLTS.

Our second game of the spring season saw us with another away trip, this time to petts wood ospreys.A last minute illness to george led to a slight reshuffle to the starting line up.The game eventually kicked off around half an hour late, just aswell as half the team went to the wrong ground and ended up getting stuck in the mud. Thanks to adrian and his 4x4 everyone arrived before kick off.I had a good feeling about this game,i told the boys it was up to us to pressure them and attack them from the start. We certainly did just that, after loads of possesion,a string of corners and some great chances we were looking well on top and very comftable.Totally against the run of play we went 1-0 down.On a rare petts wood attack Joe shone unluckily drove the ball into our own net whilst trying to to clear the ball from danger. However this didn't put the boys off their game and we continued to dominate. The football at times was a joy to watch with confident passing all over the pitch and playing our way out of trouble.I knew it  only was a matter of time before we would level the scores. After more domination and more corners we finaly broke them down.Joe kelly scored his first for the club with a looping shot,it was a close call if it crossed the line or not but the referee who had a great game awarded the goal.We continued to dominate after the break.More lovely passing and some really solid tackling saw us firmly in control of the game. Our dominance paid off when joe kelly scored his second of the game with a thunderbolt from the edge of the box, leaving the keeper with no chance. That goal was enough to earn us our first win of the spring season. This performance was so pleasing in loads of ways,Although going a goal down we still had the confidence to play our own Passing game, add that to to some really solid tackling and great comitment and great teamwork we are really starting to look like a team.Lets not forget at least four of the boys involved today are still in their first season playing for a team. I'm relly sorry for the two boys who didn't get a game today, you will get your chance and i fully understand your dissapointment.Despite being dissapointed the two boys joined in the celabrations at the final whistle, which is lovely to see.One important thing to remember is that we dont get to carried with this victory. Its great for our confidence, but we must all contine to work hard, concentrate and enjoy ourselves.Next up is a home game against Leeford.Lets try and see if we can get our first home win and make it two wins in a row.

Match report week 1(spring).(st more victory), valley park field ineligible player

Valley park emerald 3 - 2 ST MORE COLTS.

Our spring season kicked off with a trip to everybodys favourite away venue.I now know why they call it the marathon ground,Once you have finally found a parking space, its roughly a 25 mile walk to the ground. The world record time for a marathon is  2hrs 4 mins, around the same length of time we always seemed to have to wait to kick off.Despite the usual delay i was really pleased how the boys started this game.Being our first week back after xmas i was bit worried how boys would react. But after a really good and lively training session i felt really positive about this game. After total domination and a few really good chances we took the lead  after around 15 mins.A quick throw from Joe shone found Callum inside the box who then drilled home his 4th goal of the season. We continued to dominate the game and put them under imense pressure with all the football being played in their half. After a couple of  really good chances to put the game out of their reach we somehow allowed them to equlise just before the break. At half time i could see no possible way we could lose this game.Unfortunatly we started the second  half very sloppily,we defended to deep, didnt win enough tackles and failed to clear the ball from our own area.Vally park took advantage of this and scored 2 quick goals to go 3-1 up.This isn't the first time this has happened straight from the break and its something we must learn from in the future. If we had started the second half  like we started the first i've no doubt we would have won this game.Despite going 3-1 done the boys fought back superbly and once again dominated the game.I was really pleased for scott when he popped up in the box to score his first goal for the club,he relly deserved it.Scott always puts in 100% in training and in games and that goal will give him a massive confidence boost. For the last 5 minutes it was all one way traffic, how we didnt level the game up i'll never know.Toby who had a exellent game up front, full of running always looking for the ball and some nice passing earned himself man of the match. On the hole, although we lost the game i felt positive about the perfomance. As long as we continue to improve game by game i will be happy, and we certainly done that, remember red lion blue.I was also really pleased to see the two boys not involved for this game come along and support the team. This shows how keen they are and is really great for team spirit.

Apollo 2-1 ST MORE COLTS.

After an exellent training session the day before,we produced arguably our best performance of the season so far.The boys showed good disapline and maturity before the game including the two miniutes silence.
We started the game very brightly and with a bit more luck could have taken the lead on a couple of occasions.Luke had another fine game between the sticks, but cuould not prevent us from going a goal down just before the break. After a scare early in the second half we really started to press for an equaliser where we enjoyed  a good spell of possession and chances started to fall our way.Unfortunatly the desire to get forward left us short at the back and apollo doubled their lead.Again we pushed hard to get back in to the game.Callum who had a great game in midfield scoered his 3rd goal of the season to get us back in the hunt.We continued to batltle for the equaliser but began to tire a little and just ran out of time.At the final whistle our opponents were happy to have held on for the win'even their manager agreed that we deserved something from the game.
Well done to george who made his long awaited debut'he had a solid game and fitted in very well.

young dynamos 0 - 1 St more colts

I knew it was coming:performances in the last few weeks convinced me of this.Despite boys being made to hang around for over an hour before kick off,we started ON THE FRONT FOOT.

After a couple of early scares we looked more comfortable as the game went on.Some really good passing and tackling all over the pitch in the second half  looked us the more likely team to break the deadlock, something which we done after a well taken free kick from joe shone which was eventually followed up by callum to score his second of the season. All you boys were spot on today, passing.tackling, attitude, discipline and team work, thank you.Wheather it was the skipping ropes in training or the half time jaffa cakes that done the job remains to be seen.On a serious note guys, this is just the start,I could tell by your reaction today that you all enjoyed the win,but we all have to keep working hard, trying hard and above all enjoy ourselves for this to become a regular feeling.

ST MORE COLTS 3 - 3 LEFORD FC.

wer'e off the mark.after a brave comeback we've got our first point.although we took an early lead in the game i felt we were second to most balls.we needed three goals against us before we started to play our own game.harry dicks scored his second of the game just before half time to keep us in the hunt. The second half was altogether different story harry got his first hatrick for us and we dominated play.unfortunatly the ball just wouldn't cross the line and leeford held on for a point. The game was played in a fantastic spirit by both teams and all the boys were a credit to there clubs. In the end, think both teams were happy with a point. As i said after last week,we are definatly improving every week and heading in the right direction.

without a doubt this was best performance of the season so far.after the last two dissapointing performances this was a very encouraging display.
very bright start and could have taken the lead yet again.but found ourselves one down.battled back well to force them into an own goal after a string of corners.
once more we conceded against run of play, but after some nice passing throughout the team harry scored his first goal for the club to equalise.
luke who also had his best game of the season so far then pulled off a string of great saves to keep scores level at half time.
started second half well again, but after a couple of knocks and heavy leggs we conceded another two before the final whistle.
new boys toby and connor had fine games and settled in very well.
overall was very pleased with team spirit and teamwork from all the lads,we are definatly heading in the right direction again.

from my point of view, this was the least pleasing performance so far this season.after an  enforced change early in the game,we struggled to find our rhythm and shape.nevertheless we held out until just before half time before we went 1-0 down.the second half started badly by conceding another straight away.heads then bagan to drop and we started to argue amongst ourselves which led to a 6-0 defeat.what upet me most was not the result but the way we did not stick together as team thus leading to the collapse.hopefully we will learn the importance of teamwork from this in the future,as i know we are much better than this result suggests.

unfortunatly didnt carry on from were we left off last week.not very good training session day before and feared what would happen.after a very sloppy start and a couple of strange referee's decion the game was over before we got started.was pleased that boys didnt drop their heads and battled to the end.dulwich were a touch on the physical side and won the majority of 50 - 50 balls.something we must and will learn as the season grows.

started game v well and should have taken the lead.but against run of play we found ourselves 1-0 down.battled well to try to find equaliser but inevitability left one or two gaps at the back and allowed them to double their lead.still heads did not drop and fought way back in to the game with well taken goal from callum.joe shone then led a one man assault against the woodwork, but our luck and time just ran out.nevertheless positive start to season, with lots to build on. well done boys.
